Traveling as a permanent nomad or traveling long-term might sound like the freest or dumbest way to live depending upon your own perspective. If you think the lifestyle sounds amazing, you might look at the posts or videos and think that person has the greatest life with no care in the world. However, nomads are real people with difficulties in their life of travel just as you might have difficulties in your own life at home. According to a recent Facebook survey of nomads, the hardest part of adapting to the nomadic way of living are sorted into these thirteen categories. In rank order, here are the most difficult aspects of being a nomad.
Uncomfortable environment (furniture, bed, or kitchen tools)
Planning for next leg (city, activity, visa, or route)
Missing loved ones
Explaining that it’s a lifestyle not a vacation
Accessing ongoing or routine medical care
Hobbies, but especially yardwork, gardens, and plants
Pets
Giving up my car
Health and Fitness (maintaining diets, lack of gyms, can’t join classes)
Packing limitations and boredom with the limited items in the luggage
Lack of routine
Laundry and line dry clothing
Logistics back home (mail/insurance/licenses)
